I recently gave a talk for the Toronto Drupal Users' Group on managing a Drupal project with the Subversion version control system (VCS) and Trac, the project management utility.

Tuning APC (Alternative PHP Cache) to work with Drupal is a relatively painless process. As Dries Buytaert has noted, APC can help serve Drupal pages up to 4 times faster than a stock Apache and PHP setup.

However, tuning APC for use with more than one Drupal instance can be a little bit more challenging than a single site running on it's own server.

On Friday, October 27th, 2006, members of the open-source community converged on Seneca College's campus for FSOSS 2006, the Free Software and Open Source Symposium.

It drew a large crowd, some great talks, and lunch. ;) There were some really interesting folks that I talked to, including Mark Surman of the International Development Research Centre and Ren Bucholz of the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Bar Camp Tdot was help on Saturday, May 13th and Sunday, May 14th, 2006. It was an opportunity [t]o learn, meet people who share different interests, contribute, and push yourself and your thinking, and provided a forum for discussing ideas and attitudes in the technological community.

The first Drupal Camp Toronto was on Friday, May 12th, 2006. It was a one day extravaganza of workshops, networking, recipe swapping and general brew-ha-ha as predicted on groups.drupal.org.

We are pleased to announce that we have joined the Canadian Software Innovation Alliance (CSIA). The CSIA is working to protect innovation and competition in the Canadian software industry. Open source software should continue developing into a free, open and powerful standard useful to programmers, users, businesses, and public institutions.
